TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE STAFF MOBILITY FOR TEACHING ASSIGNMENT UNDER THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAM

The European University of the Atlantic aims to boost the participation of all the members of the university community in exchange, cooperation and mobility programs between the different countries that make up the EU via Erasmus agreements. The staff mobility for teaching assignment (STA) under the Erasmus+ program is focused on teaching and research staff from higher education institutions with the aim of staying abroad for short periods and taking training activities.

  1. OBJECTIVE

    The overall objective is boosting the international mobility of the European University of the Atlantic teaching staff, as a comprehensive part of the internationalization strategy of the institution. With this objective, 8 people are able to take short-term stays with teaching purposes, at other higher education institutions with which the University has a teaching exchange agreement during the 2018-2019 academic year.

    The staff mobility for teaching assignment has many purposes:

    1. Teaching in subjects included in the corresponding area of specialization. In his way, the European University of the Atlantic teaching staff will be able to transmit knowledge to students of other higher education institutions, contributing to its international diffusion while increasing the knowledge regarding the host institution, its teaching staff and degrees.
    2. Performing labors and tasks leading to an improvement of the international mobility of our students, since those teachers that have been abroad will be able to provide first-hand academic and institutional information about the host university, which leads to a higher quality of the mobility programs and the possibility to develop international dual degrees.
    3. Benefiting the European University of the Atlantic students who have not taken part of mobility programs, thanks to the acquired experience and knowledge through our teaching staff that have been abroad and from other institutions.
    4. Encouraging students and teaching staff to take part in mobility programs.
  2. General requirements
    1. Being in possession of the Spanish citizenship, being from any European Union country or from any other country taking part of the Erasmus+ Program, or being officially recognized by Spain as a refugee, stateless or permanent resident.
    2. Applicants need to be listed in the Teaching Management Plan of the European University of the Atlantic in the 2018-2019 academic year, therefore keeping the bond with the original university even during the mobility program.
    3. Only one mobility teaching program per academic year is allowed.
    4. Before starting the mobility period, a Financial Agreement should have been signed, stating the maximum sum of money to be received. The maximum financed period will be 5 teaching days, dully justified.
    5. Possessing, before the stay’s start, an Agreement Mobility (ANNEX I) signed by both institutions.
  3. Requirements regarding the stay’s length

    Generally, the teaching stay will last for five working days, so that the stay means a great contribution to the teaching activity as well as to the international academic life of the host university. Saturday, Sunday, start and end date will not be taken into account if the schedule stated in the public transportation is not compatible with the teaching practice. Outbound and inbound days will not be taken into account. Likewise, the stay will need to coincide with the teaching period of the host university.

    Teaching stays that are done under this call will have to be completely finished (outbound and inbound day inclusive) before June 30th, 2019.

  4. Requirements of the host university

    The mobility program will only be possible with universities or higher education institutions that hold a Higher Education Erasmus Card, which have an agreement for the mobility of the teaching staff in force during the 2018/2019 academic year with the European University of the Atlantic (ANNEX II).

    In case there is a special interest in staying at a university who has no agreement with the university yet, the professor can suggest the International Relations Office to begin the process to sign an agreement. In any case, the agreement between institutions needs to be signed before the start of the mobility.

  5. Teaching requirements

    The teaching practice to be done by the professor during the mobility period will have to be integrated into a study plan that leads to the attainment of an official degree in the host university and that fact will have to be stated in the Mobility Agreement between both institutions before the stay of the stay. The Mobility Agreement is an essential document that has to be fully completed and signed by both parties before the start of the mobility.

    The minimum teaching hours will have to be 8 hours, notwithstanding the stay’s period length.

  6. Financial aid and payment

    The teaching staff will receive a European financial aid, managed via the Agencia Nacional Española SEPIE, as a financial aid for the journal and stay during the mobility period at another country, in accordance with the following criteria:

    Journey aid:

    The journey aid will be based on the distance from the working place and the place where the teaching practice takes place, as it is indicated below:

    Between 2,000 and 2,999km €360 per participant

    8,000km and superior €1,500 per participant

    The distance that will be taken into account is the one obtained through the European Committee Official Tool to calculate distances:

    The sum to be received form the distance indicated in such tool represents the maximum sum of the aid for an all-round trip between the place of departure and destination.

    Stay aid:

    The sum as a stay aid for the teaching staff will depend on the stay’s length and the destination country where the mobility is to take place, on the days that are accredited in the stay certificate, that will need to coincide with what is established at the Aid Agreement and according to what is stated below:

    It needs to be born in mind that the total sum of this aid aims to cover the transportation, accommodation and living expenses during a mobility period and may not correspond to the total expenses.

    Before the mobility starts, a first payment will be made, corresponding to the 75% of the total aid. The 25% left will be transferred to the bank account as soon as the SEPIE orders the payment as long as all the administrative procedures have been met (section IX)

    The aid will be transferred to the bank account that is listed on the Administration Service records. It is the person’s responsibility to keep up to date the bank data,

  7. Selection Criteria

    The following criteria is to be applicable to the process:

    1. Criterion 1: Priority will be given for the teaching staff who have not participated in a mobility program previously.
    2. Criterion 2:priority will be given to the research and teaching staff members who are teaching in a foreign language during the 20158/20169 academic year.
    3. Criterion 3: priority will be given to the teaching staff who proves to have an English language level or a certain level of the language of the host university.
    4. Criterion 4: Those research and teaching staff members who have included their proposals in other activities will be prioritizes, as well as those proposals who are strictly teaching-related, and that contribute to a greater internationalization of the students from the European University of the Atlantic.
  8. Request

    Applicants need to fill in the following online application form before September 30th, 2018:

    Each applicant can only apply for one place, so only one application form will be accepted. After having completed the application form, applicants have to send to the International Relations Office the documentation below and must do so before October 12th, 2018:

    1. A printed and signed copy of the application form, previously completed online
    2. The “Mobility Agreement” that can be found at ANNEX I as well as at the IRO’s web page, in which case it will also include the curriculum. This document has to include the department’s, faculty’s or the international relations head’s signature form the host university and the signature of the person interested in the mobility program. Scanned document is accepted.
    3. As an option, the person interested in the mobility program may provide documentation to certify the English language level.

    The regular procedure, before filling in the application form, consists of contacting with the selected university or universities in order to study the possibility to teach in the areas of knowledge and of interest for the applicant, while exploring the dates when this teaching practice should take place.

    Once the deadline for the applications is met, the provisional allocation of places resolve will be published.

    From the day of the resolve publication, a 10-calendar day period opens so that applicants can amend any mistakes or submit additional documentation that is needed.

    When this period ends, the final allocation of places will be released.

    Resolves need to indispensably count on the approval of the Academic Planning’s Vice-chancellor.

    In case there were any modifications to the Mobility Agreement or to the application form, the International Relations Office should be notified of such changes and, if necessary, a new Mobility Agreement should be added, stating the host university’s and the applicant’s signature (as explained beforehand, the scanned document is accepted).

    If a professor resigns the financial aid, the resignation has to be notified in writing to the IRO immediately. The financial aid, therefore, may be allocated to the substitutes by order of preference.

  9. Beneficiary's duties
    1. It is essential that, before the start of the mobility program, the professor completed and signed the corresponding Subsidy Agreement at the International Relations Office. The information to obtain this document will be provided at the IRO.
    2. Upon arrival at the original university, the professor needs to hand in the stay certificate, that needs to include the start and end date of the stay, as well as the teaching hours, signed and sealed by the host university. The certificate (ANNEX III) has to be original, no photocopies, fax or scanned documents will be accepted.
    3. The beneficiary will have to complete the stay report that the European Committee will send to the personal e-mail, via the Mobility Tool.
    4. The beneficiary will need to provide the original documentation of the incurred expenses, such as the trip and accommodation. Original boarding passes and transport tickets must be kept.
    5. The European University of the Atlantic will not directly pay to the travel agencies, airlines, hotels, etc. Those payments should be made by the beneficiaries.
    6. The beneficiary will have to prepare a plan to make up for the teaching hours lost at UNEATLANTICO in case the mobility period interferes with the normal class schedule. Teaching hours may be made up before or after the mobility program.

In case the financial aid is not finally dully justified, the beneficiary will obligatorily return the financial aid, in part or totally.
